Wonton Soup

Cheers to Malaysian’s favourite, Wonton Soup! Learn how to make the superb, easy, light and comforting wonton soup that you can make right at home.

 

Ingredients:

  • Dumpling wrappers (Wonton skins)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp yellow miso paste, or more to taste
  • Baby Bok Choy
  • Scallion, thinly chopped

For the Wontons:

  • 250g medium shrimp, peeled, deveined & diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • Scallion, thinly chopped
  • Ground black pepper

Steps:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the wontons ingredients.
  2. To assemble the wontons, place dumpling wrappers on a work surface. Spoon of the shrimp mixture into the center of each wrapper and wrap neatly.
  3. In a pot, sauce minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant. Then, add in the chicken broth and water. Bring to boil.
  4. Get in the baby Bok Choy, scallion, miso paste and stir well.
  5. And for the finale, get in all of the wontons into the soup. Cook for 5 minutes or until fully cooked.
  6. Serve hot!
